Originally founded by Hassni Malik (dROME, Irrational Arts, Progress Report, Splintered, Theme, The Vitamin B12, etc.) and Richard Johnson (Fourth Dimension Records, Adverse Effect, Splintered, Theme, Grim Humour, etc.), Lumberton TradingCompany began life in 2004 as an idea, or statement of intent, that has navigated its own path since 2005. Beside those people having honoured LTCo with releases already, negotiations are presently underway with others we anticipate working with in due course.
The label will continue to explore other mediums as well as the records and CDs it is chiefly concerned with at the moment, including the limited edition print by Volcano The Bear’s Nick Mott and, of course, the concerts so far organised in Krakow (alongside AudioTong). The latter has so far included Andrew Liles, Faust, Colin Potter, Theme, Whitehouse and Steven Severin.
During Autumn 2006, Hassni decided to leave the label. Although he remains closely involved, all activities from the Michael Gira LP onwards have been solely Richard’s responsibility. Although the boundaries and interests between Lumberton TradingCompany and Fourth Dimension Records will remain simultaneously blurred (for a number of reasons) and motivated by, essentially, the same forces, Richard feels the chief distinction now lies in LTCo paying more attention to detail concerning the presentation of the music.
