The
Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is a 26.2-mile road race run held on the last Sunday in October through Arlington, Virginia, and Washington, D.C..
The MCM has been run every year since 1976, and as of 2010, was the United States’ 4th-largest race by finishers.
The course, which varies slightly from year to year, is certified by USA Track and Field.
The race is generally run a few weeks before the Marine Corps’ birthday on November 10. The race is also known as “The People’s Marathon” because it is the largest race that offers neither prize money nor appearance fees to draw elite runners.
